International Finance Corporation Training | what are you expecting
The program encourages individuals to bring fresh perspectives and innovative ideas to IFC’s work, while improving skills in a diverse and highly stimulating environment. Furthermore, the Global Internship Program provides a unique opportunity to exchange ideas and network with international professionals dedicated to ending extreme poverty and promoting prosperity in the developing world.
Operational assignments cover various business areas, such as involvement in sector-specific market mapping, investment proposal reviews, financial modeling and analysis, portfolio management, preparatory work and advisory services activities. Other duties can cover a range of activities in the company and support departments.
Global Interns also get access to corporate mentoring, skills training and regular GIP Group learning events/activities.
Eligibility criteria
In order to be eligible for the IFC WBG Global Internship Programme, applicants are expected to meet the following conditions:
- The program is open to all nationalities
- Applicants must be graduates
- Candidates must be currently enrolled in a master’s degree program, with a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience.
- IFC hires global interns for a minimum of four weeks between May and September to work on separate projects in Washington, D.C. or in one of IFC’s country or regional offices. Many of the posted opportunities are also open to virtual participation.

How to apply: Interested candidates are expected to apply online for any of the available internship programs and submit their CV and cover letter outlining their motivation for applying and how their skills and experience relate to the internship requirements.
GIP receives more than 3,000 applications annually for nearly 40 positions at headquarters in Washington, D.C., and around the world.
