Eligibility Criteria | Government of Canada Scholarships 2023-24
To be eligible for the Canadian Government Scholarship 2023-24, applicants must be:
- Nationals of one of the following eligible countries/territories:
- Asia: Bangladesh, Nepal, and Taiwan;
- Europe: Turkey, Ukraine;
- Middle East and North Africa: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia;
- Sub-Saharan Africa: Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda; And
- Enrolled as a full-time student at a post-secondary institution in an eligible country/territory and paying tuition fees to that institution at the time of application and for the duration of the exchange.
A Canadian post-secondary institution must:
- He is Designated learning institution (DLI);
- Have a student exchange agreement in place with the institution to which the candidate is affiliated that waives tuition fees for scholarship recipients. For college and undergraduate research applications without an agreement, a letter issued by the International Office of the Canadian institution or equivalent will be accepted; And
- Inform both the candidate and their home institution of any mandatory fees that cannot be waived, in exceptional cases, prior to applying for a scholarship on behalf of the candidate.

Scholarship value and benefits
The scholarship is valued at CAD 10,200 or CAD 12,700 depending on the length of study and the funds must be used for:
- visa fees or study/work permit;
- Air travel for scholarship recipients only by the most direct and economical route;
- health insurance;
- living expenses, such as accommodation, utilities, and food;
- Ground transportation, including a public transportation permit; And
- Books and supplies required for the recipient’s study or research, excluding computers and other devices.
Application procedures
How to apply: Applicants interested in the Canadian Government Scholarships 2023-24 should contact eligible Canadian institutions who will then transfer to:
- submit applications on behalf of qualified candidates;
- Promote this scholarship opportunity to faculty and staff, as well as to partner institutions from eligible countries/territories;
- arranging requests based on the organisation’s strategic priorities;
- Identify one person responsible for submitting applications;
- Signing a contribution agreement with DFATD and disbursing scholarship funds to successful candidates; And
- Submit qualitative and quantitative reports during the scholarship period.

Post-secondary institutions must be from eligible countries/territories:
- Liaise with partner institutions in Canada to confirm or explore institutional collaborations and student exchange agreements;
- Promote this scholarship opportunity through their international offices;
- Identify candidates who meet the eligibility and admission requirements of the Canadian partner institution;
- Submit supporting documents for their candidate to the Canadian partner institution, which is responsible for submitting scholarship applications; And
- Advise selected candidates to acquire additional language training and multicultural skills prior to their departure.
