DETAILS | Québec Merit Scholarship for Foreign Students
This program comprises a component accessible to students from all countries and five distinct components designated for students hailing from Brazil, China, India, Israel, and Wallonia. These specific components result from agreements established between Québec and foreign governments.
The program encompasses higher education comprehensively, extending opportunities for CCTT (College Centres for the Transfer of Technologies) researchers and administrators to participate. Its primary objectives are:
- Attracting top foreign researchers and students while fostering international recognition for Québec’s universities and CCTTs.
- Establishing cultural connections and facilitating the development of collaborative scientific research projects.
Québec Merit Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the Québec Merit Scholarship for Foreign Students, applicants must meet the following prerequisites:
- This competition is open to all candidates who are not Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada, and who have not applied for permanent residence under Canadian immigration laws.
- These scholarships are intended for foreign students or researchers across all research sectors, including health, humanities and social sciences, arts and letters, natural sciences, and engineering.
- Candidates are eligible for doctoral merit program scholarships from MEES (Ministère de l’Éducation et de l’Enseignement supérieur) during the first nine semesters of their doctoral studies.
- Postdoctoral scholarships are designed for researchers who have obtained their PhD no more than two years prior to the competition deadline or who have submitted their doctoral dissertation by January 15, 2024.
Québec Merit Scholarship Application Procedures
How to Apply: After being preselected, candidates must create an account within the FRQnet system. Subsequently, the FRQNT will initiate contact with all preselected candidates to complete an electronic form. This form will serve as the container for the necessary documents and must be submitted electronically before the competition’s designated deadline, as specified by the Fonds.
Candidates have the option to complete the form in either French or English. However, candidates applying in English must provide a French title for their project.
When preparing the files for attachment to the form, please consult the Presentation Standards for Attached Files within the FRQnet electronic Portfolio.
It’s important to note that files cannot be modified or updated after the application deadline.
Required Documents
For an application to be deemed eligible, all required documents must be included. Any documents that are illegible, of low resolution, or prevent the verification of the application’s eligibility will be rejected.
