The fully financed Islamic Development Bank Scholarship 2023/2024 will be available to interested individuals who wish to enrol in a full-time degree programme.
As part of its general initiatives to improve the human resources of both its member countries and the Muslim populations in non-member countries, the Bank finances and administers its scholarship programmes.

2023/2024 Islamic Development Bank Scholarship | DETAILS
The IsDB offers six different scholarship programmes:
- Undergraduate
- Master’s
- PhD and Post-Doctoral Research Programme
- IsDB-ISFD for Technical Vocational Education & Training (TVET) or the following 21 Least Developed Member Countries (LDMCs): Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Benin, Burkina Faso, Chad, Comoros, Djibouti, The Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Mauritania, Mozambique, Niger, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somali, Sudan, Togo, Uganda and Yemen
- IsDB-ISFD Bachelor studies for 21 LDMCs as mentioned in No. 4 above
- IsDB-The World Academy of Science (TWAS) Joint Programme for Capacity Building and Technology Transfer
Eligibility & Criteria
The Islamic Development Bank Scholarship is intended for academically talented individuals who have a strong desire to participate in community development and social services after graduation. Applicants MUST make sure they meet all the requirements for the programme given below; otherwise, their application will not be taken into consideration.
- Must be a citizen of one of the Muslim populations in nations that are not IsDB members.
- Candidate from non-member countries must be a Muslim.
- Must have obtained a high school diploma or registered in one of the top 10 public/government universities in his/her own country.
- Must have minimum of 70% in his/her high school final GPA. (Undergraduate scholarship)
- Must have minimum of 70% in his/her Bachelor studies’ GPA. (Masters Scholarship)
- Must choose a field of study listed among the approved disciplines of the programme
- Must offer proof of language fluency in the university’s preferred medium of instruction. A document or certificate proving language competency is necessary (for example, for English, a TOEFL, IELTS, or passed required level examination administered by the British Council, or a comparable system in French or another language).
- All documents, even if they were originally written in another language, must be accompanied by a certified translation into English or French.
- Must not be in receipt of any other scholarship at the time of application and during study.
- Must be medically fit and willing to undergo medical tests after selection
Additional Eligibility for PhD, Postdoc
- Have Master’s degree in one of the fields of study of the programme.
- Have minimum (“Very Good”) academic standing;
- Preferably have work and/or research experience.
- Have a research proposal outlining one of the program’s areas of study, along with a statement about how it will advance science and the community or nation.
- Be medically fit and be willing to undergo medical tests after selection.
Post-doctoral research
- Have PhD degree in one of approved fields of the programme.
- Have minimum (“Very Good”) academic standing.
- Have not less than two (2) years of experience in the field of research.
- Must have a record of publications/research in the same field.
- Have a research proposal outlining one of the program’s areas of study, along with a statement about how it will advance science and the community or nation.
- Be medically fit and be willing to undergo medical tests after selection
Application Procedures
How-to-Apply: The admission is entirely the student’s responsibility, in keeping with the philosophy of the program. Selected candidates must be accepted by one of their home nations’ top 10 public or government universities. The IsDB may occasionally apply for admittance in a member nation that has an agreement with the IsDB.
