PTDF Overseas Postgraduate Scholarship Program | details
The program has been developed to give candidates the opportunity to benefit from a variety of knowledge and facilities offered by world-class institutions around the world. Under it, candidates are invited to apply through PTDF to specific programs at partner institutions.
The award includes the provision of airfare, payment of health insurance, payment of tuition and bench fees (where applicable), and the provision of allowances for accommodation and living expenses.
For the 2023/2024 award, applications will be restricted to PTDF Partner Universities in the UK, Germany, France and Malaysia where they feel the high standards of the scholarship can be maintained and that the aims of the program will be best presented.

Eligibility criteria
In order to be eligible for the PTDF Overseas Postgraduate Scholarship Programme, applicants are expected to meet the following conditions:
- Academic merit as evidenced by the quality of degrees, completed academic transcripts and other professional qualifications acquired
- Relevant publications to be consulted by the applicant (PhD applicants only)
- Membership in professional bodies
- Feasibility of the study/research plan.
Master’s requirements
- A minimum of a second class upper (2.1) qualification in first class or lower second class (2.2) with relevant industry experience
- You must have completed the mandatory National Youth Service (NYSC)
- Must be computer literate
- Possession of 5 credits/level, including English Language and Mathematics.
- Statement of purpose (maximum 500 words) stating the reason(s) for the proposed study, its relevance to industry and its expected impact on national development.
- Applicants must have a National Identification Number (NIN) and verification will be required (NIMC verification fee applies), prior to applying for the scholarship.
PhD requirements
- You must have completed the mandatory National Youth Service (NYSC)
- Must be computer literate
- A minimum of Second Class Lower (2.2) in the first degree and a good Second Class Certificate
- A research proposal related to the oil and gas industry (no more than five pages) to include the following:
- Title
- introduction
- search problem
- Goal
- Research questions/goals
- Domain
- Abstract literature
- methodology
- Expect results only when necessary
All Lecturers must submit a letter from their VPs confirming that they have not received any other scholarships (if shortlisted)

Application procedures
How to apply: Interested applicants seeking PTDF Overseas Postgraduate Scholarship Program are required to register and Submit an application online. Candidates who successfully scale through the first round of screening will be required to submit their transcripts; All applicants are therefore advised to prepare their transcripts for submission in anticipation of such application.

Applicants are advised to scan copies of the following documents and attach them to the online application forms:
- First degree certificate or statement of result
- NYSC discharge certificate
- WAEC/GCE/SSCE/NECO results and PINs contained on application forms to enable PTDF to display O’level results on the relevant website.
- A recent passport photo
- Local government identification letter
- Master’s degree (PhD applicants only)
- Evidence of membership in trade unions
